how it works
The strength of TCT is its vast volunteer base. Each day, a team of volunteers prepares and serves the meal and cleans up afterwards. Volunteer teams include local religious organizations, businesses, civic groups, students, and groups of friends and family. View the volunteer calendar.
Each year, over 1,000 volunteers join our table, fostering community and combating hunger in the Eau Claire area.
In addition to volunteer services, TCT relies on the generosity of the community for financial support.
For its first fifteen years TCT operated on a “team model.” Each volunteer team planned the menu and provided food supplies for its scheduled meal.
Recently, TCT has transitioned to planning menus and providing food resources as part of its new food plan.
Food resources are donated by local businesses, purchased from Feed My People Food Bank for $0.14 per pound on average, and supported by contributions when necessary. Donations also support kitchen equipment and supplies, outreach efforts, and operational costs.
The Community Table was built and is supported by the community.
